PDP Ticket Is Not Atiku’s Birthright – Bode George

For the umpteenth time, Bode George, former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, on Tuesday, directed a fresh volley of criticisms towards Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President and presidential candidate of the party in the 2023 election for nursing another presidential ambition in 2027, the seventh time he would be angling for the number one job.

George, leader of the party in Lagos, was particularly incensed that the former VP is angling for the PDP ticket for the third time in a row if the privilege, which he got in 2019 and 2023 had become his birthright.

A guest of The Morning Show, a breakfast programme on ARISE NEWS, the party chieftain, also expressed his version for the recent visit of the ex-VP to President Muhammadu Buhari, immediate President of Nigeria, at his residence in Kaduna State, saying it detracted from the PDP spirit.

He also said that Atiku’s pursuit of a mega party through the coalition of the PDP with other political formations without recourse to other prominent members, especially from other areas of the country smacked of desperation and disregard, saying at the appropriate time, the party would meet to take a bold decision against such a move.

Hear him: “Those who are now forming mega party, what is the purpose of that mega party. You’re a member of a solid organisation, you want to pull out. You are meeting with Baba Buhari, Is he a member of our party? Have you discussed your mega something with anybody else? Do you think is a private fiefdom? Is PDP a private company? Nobody owns PDP. You bring it within the party. Let us discuss it. Once it is approved, then you move. You don’t just flip flop because of your personal ambition.

“Look at General Buhari shaking hands with these guys. Is he a member of our party? We presented you against him, and he flogged you like a little kid, and then you ran there. And if you look at the congregation of those who visited Buhari, they are all from one side, who are the others from our party?

“No, it’s not done that way. In fact, my conclusion was, what is this man trying to do with this mega party? Is he trying to divide Nigeria from the north and then the south?”

He further advised the PDP members across the country to “come home and work together for the party ahead of 2027, rather than joining hands to set up a mega party for Atiku’s personal ambition.
