The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) on Wednesday presented Platforms Africa to the world as a nominee for the Nigerian Content Media Organisation of The Year Award.
The Executive Secretary of the board, Engineer Felix Omatsola Ogbe, who led the presentation at the Champions of Nigerian Content Awards in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state, maintained that the screening committee headed by pioneer Executive Secretary, Ernest Nwapa, considered Platforms Africa and two other nominees in the category- Thisday and Reelnews – as Champions of Nigerian Content in the media.
The Award was won by Thisday as former President Goodluck Jonathan also won the icon of the Year Award.
“Nominees’ selection process was rigorous, with clear benchmarks used in determining eventual winners. With an Awards advisory board made up of members with huge industry experience, knowledge and impeccable integrity, Champions of Nigerian Content Awards is, indeed, a recognition that is incomparable,” Ogbe said.
Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) now known as Renaissance won the Nigerian Content International Upstream Operator of the year; Aradel Holdings won the Independent Upstream Operator of the year; while the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) won the midstream Operator of the year award.

Bank of Industry was announced as the winner of the Financial Service Provider of the year; Dangote Refinery won the downstream Operator of the year; and Dorman Long won the indigenous service company of the year.
Other winners are Daewoo/Halliburton which won the international service company of the year; and Thisday newspaper, which won the Nigerian Content Media Organisation of The Year Award.

Team Lead of Platforms Africa, Adeola Yusuf, who said that he didn’t see the recognition coming, stated that the leading online newspaper was honoured with the nomination.
“We have held firm to professionalism and an undying desire for local Africa content development. These, which always reflect in our insightful and well-researched reports and Independent analyses have propelled us to mileage we hitherto did not envisage.
“Though we did not see this coming, we promise to keep being the champion of Nigerian content in media for the genuine benefit of the country and its citizens,” Yusuf said.
“Therefore, we dedicate this honour to our readers all of over the world as we appreciate the NCDMB for this honour,” he concluded.
