Popular Pastor, Paul Adefarasin, Under Probe – Police

Pastor Paul Adefarasin, Senior Pastor of House on the Rock, is under investigation by the Lagos State Police Command following the circulation of a video that shows him holding what appeared to be a gun-like object from his car window.

The footage, captured on June 6, 2025, shows the popular preacher rolling down the tinted window of his vehicle while holding an object in his right hand that resembled a pistol. In the clip, the man recording the video can be heard expressing regret: “Boss, boss, sorry sir, sorry sir,” as Adefarasin drives away.

The video quickly sparked controversy online, with many questioning whether the pastor had displayed a firearm in public. In response, Adefarasin issued a statement during Sunday service on June 8, 2025, denying the claims.

“You might be aware of a video circulating on social media showing me in what some have misunderstood as brandishing a firearm,” he said. “I want to assure you that was certainly not a firearm, and at no point did I point such at anyone.”

Police authorities have confirmed that the clergyman is cooperating with their inquiries. The Lagos State Command has launched a formal investigation to determine the nature of the object and the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Command Spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, said, “No one is above the law. Pastor Paul Adefarasin has turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, and he’s currently being interrogated by detectives who have commenced investigation on the case since a video surfaced online showing the pastor holding a gun-like object against another road user, while driving in an unregistered vehicle.

The outcome of the investigation will be made public.”
