More details have emerged on the gas explosion that rocked and killed two persons at the multi-million dollars Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, Southwest Nigeria.
The explosion occurred barely 24 hours after 2 people were also killed in a similar gas explosion at the Conference hotel owned by former Governor of Ogun state, Gbenga Daniel.
Platforms Africa reports that the hotel is located less than 500 meters from the Obasanjo Library, established through donations from all 36 states governors and businessmen during the regine of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

The explosion occurred around 11:am at the Marcque event centre within the Presidential Library as Technicians were topping up gas into an air conditioner before it exploded.
A worker at OOPL who spoke to newsmen on condition of anonimity said two people have been confirmed dead following the incident.
“The two gates leading into OOPL were shut while the security guards at the gate are currently turning visitors back,” the worker said.
It has been reported that the State Fire Service and some officials are currently in the premises to put the situation under control.
Meanwhile tongues have been wagging over the two incidents.

Social media users have aslo expressed concerns over the spate of gas explosion in Abeokuta with some querying the timing and location of the two latest incidents.
“Why did the two incidents happen within a spate of 24 hours; why did the two happen at the facilities belonging to two prominent politicians? Why did it involve fatalities of two lives each? There are many technical and may be rituals questions to be answered from these two incidents,” Micheal Atobaje, said, on a WhatsApp group.
“The real problem now is that with the two incidents, the phobia for gas usage in the rock city (Abeokuta) and the environs is likely to surge and draw back the gains of gas utilisation for domestic cooking in the state,” Kubura Arowona added.
