1,744 days is 4 years and 10 months + breakdown of days Nigerian Universities have been shut by ASUU between 1999 and 2022
An online research publication, Eduplana Research, has published the breakdown of the strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities in 16 years.
Recall that lecturers of public universities embarked on strike since February 14, 2022 and are yet to resume.
However a number of meetings and committees were inaugurated to resolve the crisis but all to no avail.

President Muhammadu Buhari had given a two weeks ultimatum to the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, to resolve the crisis, but it elapsed with no solution.
Also, the President on Friday inaugurated another committee headed by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Pantami, to review Integrated Payroll and Personal Information System, Treasury Single Account and Government Integrated Financial Management System over irregularities.
The Union, however, has stated that the adoption of a transparent payment platform University Transparency and Accountability Solutions is critical to resolving the current strike action.
The President of ASUU, Prof. Emmanuel Sodeke, has said the union was prepared to sustain the strike until all its demands are met.
In the research published by Eduplana Research, the 2020 strike was the longest that ASUU has embark on.
