Peru Gets First Female President, After Castillo’s Impeachment, Arrest

Dina Boluarte was sworn in on Wednesday at Congress as the first female President of Peru and the sixth one in five years. Boluarte, Peruvian former vice president succeeded her former principal, Pedro Castillo who was impeached and arrested for scheming to dissolve parliament. Castillo was impeached by a majority of 101 members in the 130-person legislative body, the same lawmakers that installed Boluarte a few hours later.
