IMF Urges Nigerian Govt To Phase Out Fuel, Electricity Subsidies

The International Monetary Fund has advised the Federal Government of Nigeria to completely phase out electricity subsidy in the country. The advice to the President Bola Tinubu-led administration was contained in the IMF’s Post Financing Assessment report. The IMF added that the Federal Government had overwhelmed itself, thus recommending that the total removal of both fuel and electricity subsidies must be implemented.
