The Nigeria’s elections’ umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has declared Governor Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the Saturday’s governorship election in Edo State. Obaseki defeated his rival and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, after winning in 13 LGAs of the state. Announcing the results, the Edo Election Returning Officer, Prof Akpofure Rim-Rukeh, said PDP polled 307,955 to secured majority votes in the election. Ize-Iyamu of the APC garnered 223,619 votes to come second.
