The governor of Kebbi State Nasir Idris, has declared Monday, July 8, as a public holiday to mark the beginning of the new Islamic calendar, lst muharram 1446AH. The state Commissioner for Establishment, Auwal -Dogondaji, made this known in a statement issued to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, on Friday. According to him, 1st of Muharram is July 7,therefore, due to the importance, the government attributes it to the Islamic new year and has decided to shift the public holiday from July 7, to July 8. At least eight states failed to attract any foreign investments but piled up N194.09bn debt between 2019 and 2022, according to findings by The PUNCH.
