Here are the security tips provided by Platforms Africa for users of ATM in Nigeria.
Always protect your ATM card and keep it in a safe place, just like you would do for cash, credit cards or checks.
Do not leave your ATM card lying around the house or on your desk at work. No one should have access to the card but you.
Immediately notify your bank if it is lost or stolen.
When using an ATM machine, keep transaction short and secretive.
Do not call for help from a stranger. Do not disclose you Personal Identification Number (PIN) to anyone.
Note that all ATM machines are installed with a hidden CCTV, therefore, move closer to the machine and/or if necessary that you need help, tell anyone who provides help for you to move closer to the machine for identification and possible tracking.
Avoid withdrawals of huge cash from ATM. Use transfer or POS option when the cash is huge.
Avoid walking a long distance from the ATM machine to a bus stop after withdrawing money from ATM machine.
