Nigeria’s Popular broadcaster, Star FM GM El-Amin Gbadeyanka, dies

 

Lagos NUJ ex-Chair shares experience from last visit to late broadcaster on hospital bed 24 hours before his death

 

A popular broarcaster in Nigeria, Mr. El-Amin Gbadeyanka, popularly called Mr. G , is dead.

Gbadeyanka, who was until his death, the General Manager Star FM radio service, passed on Saturday, July 17, at the Lagoon Hospital, Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital.

The immediate past chairman, Lagos State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Dr. Qazim Akinreti, who confirmed Gbadeyanka’s death narrated how he visited the deceased at the hospital about 24 hours before his death.

“Inalillah wainna illahi rojiun. The General Manager Star FM radio service Mr Ganiyu (El-Amin) Gbadeyanka, popularly called Mr. G , has passed at the Lagoon Hospital, Ikoyi.

“Quite devastating, I visited him at the hospital on Wednesday evening and was told he was sleeping.

“His internment has taken place Saturday afternoon after prayer at Ikoyi cemetery.

“May Allah swt accept him to aljanah firdaos and forgive him of his shortcomings.

“I got the sad news on a visit to MITV complex this afternoon.

“My condolences to the Chairman Murhi International Television and Star FM, the staff of the media organization.

“May Allah swt give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
