ASUU strike: Minister, NUC, VCs, Pro-Chancellors Meet Sept 6

In a bid to halt the indefinite strike declared by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the National Universities Commission (NUC) has scheduled a meeting among the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, Pro-Chancellors and Vice-Chancellors of federal universities for September 6. The meeting will hold at the commission’s headquarters, Abuja. NUC Executive Secretary, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, said the commission had invited the pro-chancellors and their vice-chancellors to a meeting with the minister to seek solution to the crisis. The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPC Ltd.), Mele Kyari, has again raised the alarm over the involvement of communities and religious groups in theft of petroleum products in the country.     Kyari stated this at the weekly Ministerial Media Briefing organised by the Presidential Media Team in Abuja on Tuesday. Police Arrest 2 Vigilantes For Raping Housewife In Bauchi

The operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested two vigilantes for raping a housewife in Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the state.   The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, made this known via a statement issued on Wednesday.
