The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has announced that Wednesday, April 10, will mark the beginning of the month of Shawwal, marking end of the holy month of Ramadan for this year, 1445 AH.
Platforms Africa reports that Saudi announced the date after the new moon to mark end of the Ramadan fasting was not sighted in any part of the country.
Announcing the development on Monday, Saudi declared that Tuesday, April 9, will be the last day of Ramadan, extending the fasting period to 30 days.
The sighting of the crescent moon determines the first day of Shawwal, which marks Eid-ul-Fitr.
It may be noted that Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) marked the first Ramadan on Monday, March 11.
