NAWOJ Lagos Ex-Chair, Sekinat Lawal, Loses Husband

‘Kindly pray for my husband,’ How the female Journalists’ leader broke the sad news + condolences messages associates, colleagues penned for the bereaved

 

Alhaji Ibrahim Lawal, husband of the former chairperson, National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Lagos Council, Hajjia Sekinat Lawal, is dead.

Platforms Africa reports that his wife, popularly called Hajjia Sekinat, broke the news on Sunday evening.

“Kindly pray for my husband, I just lost my husband 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭,” she wrote on the Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN) WhatsApp group.

The announcement elicited spontaneous reactions from associates, friends, and colleagues, including a professor of communication at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Ismail Ibrahim, his counterpart at the Lagos State University (LASU), Associate Professor Tunde Akanni, and editor of the weekend titles of The Guardian newspaper, Kabir Garuba, among others who have penned condolences message to the bereaved.

“Inna lilLahi wa inna ilayhi rojiun. May Allah forgive him, overlook his faults and admit him at Aljannah Firdaous,’ Ibrahim wrote.

A devastating one here again. Allahumogfrilau warhamhu. May Allah accept our brother’s return and strengthen our sister, the children, and the rest of the families,” Akanni added.

Garuba wrote; “May Allah (SWT) forgive the deceased and fortify all of us, the bereaved!”

Meanwhile, the burial arrangement shared by an official of the MMPN showed that the deceased would be buried on Monday at Jafojo Burial Ground, near Morkaz, Agege by 10am.

JANAZAH

The Janazah (burial) of Alhaji Ibrahim Lawal, the husband of former NAWOJ Lagos State Council Chairperson, Hajia Sekinah Lawal, will hold on Monday, August 26th, 2024 at Jafojo Burial Ground, near Morkaz, Agege by 10am.

We pray God Almighty be with Hajia Sekinah, the children, and family members at this critical period.

May Allah grant Alhaji Ibrahim Lawal Al-Jannah Firdaus.
