JUST IN: Osun Monarch, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, Is Dead

A first-class traditional ruler in Osun State, Owa-Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, is dead.

He was 86.

The monarch’s passing was announced in a statement by Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Chief Yinka Fasuyi, on Thursday.

Chief Fasuyi, in a tribute that he signed, said, “An era comes to an abrupt end!”

The monarch spent 42 years on the throne.

He was enthroned on February 20, 1982.

Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has also expressed his deep sorrow over the death of the monarch via his X account on Thursday.

In a statement, Atiku recalled the late monarch’s fatherly warmth, describing him as more than just a father-in-law but a symbol of courage, boldness, and discipline emblematic of the Ijesha people.
