Ogun state government has declared Monday, October 8, 2024 as public holiday to commemorate the Teacher’s Day.
Platforms Africa reports that the governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, declared this through the ministry of education, science and technology.
Though the day fell on Saturday, 5th of October, the government declared Monday, the 7th of October due to significance of educators.

The statement signed by Alhaji (Ambassador) Olaleye Rasheed Damilare, Information Publication Officer, LEAMSP Ogun State, which was sighted by Platforms Africa reads; “Dear Educators and Private Schools Community of Ogun State, We are pleased to announce that His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun, Governor of Ogun State, has officially declared Monday as a public holiday for all teachers in Ogun State. This news has been shared with us by Ustaadh AbdulAzeez Ajibola, AHNR, CBD, and President General of all Private Schools in Ogun State (GUPSA).
“Please take note of this important announcement, and plan your schedules accordingly. Let us take this opportunity to celebrate and appreciate the dedication and hard work of our educators, who are integral to the development of our youth and the future of our great state.”
