‘Strange Resurrection,’ Four Animals That Sleep And Wakeup After Six Months

They are, most times, mistaken for the dead. These animals deep sleep and that condition may last, in some cases, up to eight months. They do not die according to science, they hibernate. Platforms Africa highlights four of the animals and the real reason for their strange hibernation and resurrection.

 

Hibernation is a state of deep sleep some animals enter to conserve energy during periods of food scarcity or harsh weather conditions.

Here are a few examples of animals that hibernate for extended periods:

1. Bats: Some bat species hibernate for 6-8 months during winter.
