The Lagos State Government through its Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has said that the ongoing efforts to search for the lady that jumped into lagoon from third mainland bridge was been delayed by the Directorate of State Services (DSS) due to its involvement in the case.

It stated that the DSS has held on to the driver of cab hailing service that drove the lady identified as Adetutu Adedokun, a staff of the agency, to the spot on the bridge where she jumped, rather than allow emergency officials have access to him and get other details that could aid their operations on water.

The Permanent Secretary, LASEMA, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu disclosed location of the driver through a statement made available to newsmen yesterday evening In the state.

Oke-Osanyintolu, meanwhile, stated that the emergency officials, after searching the waterways, have adjusted their operations to recovery exercises on the waterways.

As learnt, the recovery exercises indicated that the emergency officials would be laying siege on waterways to check any corpse that might float on waterways and bring it out for other preparations.

According to the statement, he body of adult female , identified as Adetutu Adedokun that was reported by eyewitnesses to have jumped into the lagoon is yet to be recovered.

“The lady is said to be a staff of yhe Department of State Security. Investigations have failed to produce the driver of the car that she was in prior to the unfortunate incident.

“The response team has changed from rescue to recovery and is now observing the tide and is relying on locals for any useful information”.

Earlier, Adetutu was gathered to have been deployed to the unarmed combat section where she had serve as an instructor who took after her parent by joining DSS after their retirement to continue the family’s legacy.

After joining the service, Adetutu, who is in her late 30s, according to sources in DSS, worked effectively and was rewarded recently by the Director General of DSS as the best-unarmed combat operative in her set.

Sources, on Friday, said that the victim’s fiance was also reported to have proposed to her a few weeks ago but sources claimed that some issues arose which both partners were trying to manage before the tragedy occurred.

It was learnt that before jumping into the lagoon, the lady and her fiance were on phone arguing over the issue which was the last conversation Adetutu had before committing suicide.
