President Muhammadu Buhari will make a national broadcast on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 7 am.
Special Adviser to the President, Media & Publicity), Femi Adesina, said this in a statement to Platforms Africa just as the confusion and crisis over naira swap degenerated nationwide.
As some major cities boil, the Cenreal Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had insisted that the deadline for old naira notes remained February 10, despite an injunction by the Supreme Court for an extension pending hearing in a suit by three states.
Commercial banks have also ran out of cash leading to attack on their facilities by angry Nigerians who couldn’t withdraw their money, either old or new notes.
Governors of All Progressives Congress (APC) and their People’s Democratic Party (PDP) counterparts are standing against one another in Court over the deadline issued by CBN while Nigerians groaned.
Meanwhile, Adesina, who reiterated hat the broadcast by Buhari would come uo by 7am, said; “Television, radio stations and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and Radio Nigeria for the broadcast.”
