Nigerians can now heave a sigh of relief as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has ordered comercial banks to start collecting the old N500 and N1,000 notes from the public with immediate effect. PUNCH reports that it however, pegged the maximum amount the banks can collect at N500,000. The CBN maintained that the old currencies were no more legal tender. The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has recovered the body of a seven-year-old boy who died in a fire incident on Thursday in Ketu area of Lagos. A Nigerian senior secondary school student, Gbenga Ezekiel entered the Guinness World Record for the most skips in a minute on one leg. The 16-year-old attends Ijapo High School in Akure, the Ondo State capital. With 265 skips, Ezekiel successfully broke Rasel Islam of Bangladesh’s previous Guinness World Record of 262 skips in a minute.
