Spokesman for LASU, Jeariogbe Olaniyi, told Platforms Africa that the deceased left his office for the bank between the hours of 10 am and 11 am. He however debunk reports making the rounds that the late Adesola was the university’s bursar or deputy bursar.

“We commend Platforms Africa for its professionalism in reaching out to get the clear picture of what haopened. The news is confirmed but it should be put on record that contrary to reports making the rounds, the deceased by the name Johnson Ademola Adesola was not the bursar or deputy bursar. The school has one bursar and more than one deputy bursar, and as we speak they are all hale and hearty,” Olaniyi said.
The university, he continued, is actively collaborating with relevant authorities to unravel the real cause of his death.
“While we condoled members of family, friend, and colleagues of the deceased, it is necessary to put the record straight because the bursar and deputy bursars who were named in some reports have families that could be put into serious emotional trouble with the report,” Olaniyi told Platforms Africa on phone.
“He left his office for bank between the hour of 10am and 11am before the incident occurred,” Olaniyi added.
Eyewitness account told Platforms Africa that Mr. Adesola died while on a queue to collect N5000 of new naira notes.
”We did not notice him complaining, but we saw him going down. Sympathizers rushed to apply first aid treatment but gave up the ghost. What an irony of fate for a senior staff dying while waiting for N5000,″ she said after her anonymity was guaranteed.
His body has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.
Adesola who has worked for the university for 37 years was few years to his retirement before his death, Platforms Africa reports.
A member of staff at LASU who was the CEO (account), Adesola, Platforms Africa reports, joined the university as a typist two on the 10th of January 1986.
