President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, has opened up on what transpired in Imo state where he was brutalised and hospitalised, declaring that he was beaten black and blue.
Platforms Africa reports that Ajaero was attacked by suspected thugs and police officers during a union protest in Imo state.

Ajaero’s left eye is swollen and completely shut, as he has suffered other injuries, according to the NLC’s head of information and publicity, Comrade Benson Upah.
Upah said Ajaero was beaten, blindfolded and taken to an unknown destination, where he was further brutalised.
His phones, money, and other personal effects were also taken from him, this newspaper has learnt.
Upah said, “Contact has been made with Congress President, Comrade Joe Ajaero this evening around 15:30 hours at the Police Hospital in Owerri from where he was taken to Federal Medical Centre, Owerri where he is receiving medical attention.”
Speaking on the attack in a video obtained by Platforms Africa, Ajaearo said; They beat me o. God must have taken extra time to create me. Ordinarily, the kind of beating I received ehn.”
Giving details of what led to the protest, he said; “You (referring to the government of Imo state) say your action is based on an interim order, an interim order lasts for some time. If they had issued a fresh interim order, it is a different thing.”

I said, “Well, it’s the same Court that issued an order that can Institute a Contempt charge. You Can’t just bring this up.”
The man recording the video retorted; “They were beating you!”
And Ajaero said; “They beat me o. God must have taken extra time to create me. Ordinarily, the kind of beating I received ehn.”
