Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of Suleiman Aledeh as the substantive Managing Director of the State-owned Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS).

The appointment takes immediate effect.

Platforms Africa reports that with this appointment, Aledeh would be returning as MD to EBS where his career began while he was still a student of UNIBEN.

Here are 10 things to know about the Edo state-born Broadcaster.

1. Sulaiman Aledeh is a seasoned international journalist and media professional with over two decades of experience in broadcast journalism across both radio and television. He has made significant contributions to prestigious international news channels, including Al Jazeera, SABC, and GB News UK. Currently, Sulaiman anchors various news programs at Arise News and shares his insights on Classic FM.

2. A graduate of Philosophy from the University of Benin (1999), Sulaiman began his media career while still a student, working at Edo Broadcasting Service. He later served at Ebonyi Radio during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme, becoming the first corps member permitted to read the station’s major news bulletin. He further established his voice at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, where he created and presented influential shows.

3. Sulaiman’s journey into national television began with one of Africa’s foremost media companies, where he anchored flagship news programs on TVC and Channels Television. He played a vital role in pioneering News Central’s first political show, Politics HQ, and led the groundbreaking live show Village Square Africa. His tenure at Channels TV further solidified his expertise in producing compelling television content, delivering some of the network’s most memorable promos, and covering significant events, including the 2011 and 2015 general elections.

As the Assistant General Manager and Head of Media and Communications at Eko Disco, Nigeria’s leading electricity distribution company, Sulaiman demonstrated strong leadership in strategic communication. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management and an Associate of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations.

5. Sulaiman holds a Master’s Degree in Humanitarian and Refugee Studies from the University of Lagos and has served as a Special Correspondent and News Anchor at Arise News in London and Lagos. He is the Founder of Aledeh Media Network, which publishes gatekeepersnews.com—an integrated online media platform dedicated to comprehensive news coverage.

6. His innovative television show Political Stew on TVC, provided significant insights leading to the 2019 Nigerian General Elections. With a passion for storytelling, Sulaiman has conducted over 12,000 interviews, enhancing his understanding of diverse topics.
