“I am safe, it’s all lies,” minister speaks + how his reaction plunged accident into deeper controversy
A private jet conveying Nigerian minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has reportedly crash-landed.
The incident, Platforms Africa gathered, occurred at Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan, Oyo State, Southwestern Nigeria on Friday night.

The HS25 aircraft operated by Flint Aero, also had some of the Minister’s aides onboard, the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) reported during a news bulletin monitored by Platforms Africa.
According to report, the aircraft departed Abuja Airport for Ibadan, the Oyo State capital at about 6:41pm and crash-landed into the bush during an effort to land at about 7:21pm close to the airport runway in Ibadan.
A source said the pilot of the aircraft was cleared for landing before the incident, adding that all persons on board and crew members were, however, evacuated safely.
The source added that the aircraft was substantially damaged.
The real cause of the incident is yet to be established while official statement from the aviation authority is yet to come.
The Minister has, however, reacted to the incident maintaining that the report was fake and that he was alive, safe and sound.
“There is nothing o. It’s all lies. Thank you,” he said on a power sector stakeholders forum after the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) also reported that he was on board the private jet.

“I am alive , safe, sound , hale, and hearty,” another power sector stakeholder, Kunle Kola-Olubiyo, quoted him to have said.
Meanwhile, this reaction has continued to stir confusion as the NTA also reported in its 2 pm network news that Mr. Adelabu was on board the ill-fated private jet.

“So far, he did not deny that he was on board. He, in fact, did not clearly say that the incident did not happen. What the minister said was that he was alive, and that nothing happened to him,” Adeola Yusuf, a communication expert said, adding; “more lights are expeceted to be thrown on this as events unfold.”
