The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council, has inaugurated the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Chapel in Lagos Operations.
Adeleye Ajayi, the Chairman of the Council, inaugurated the Yunus Yusuf-led seven-member executive council.
The executives were re-elected for another term. Ajayi said the team remained a pacesetter in Lagos Council.
Ajayi, who urged NAN journalists to participate more in State Council’s congresses and activities, said that there were lots of advantages in unionism.

“You have performed well. NUJ NAN Chapel is a pace setter in the state council. We are proud of you. Please, endeavour to attend congresses at the state council.
We need to change our attitude towards attending NUJ activities. I wish this exco a fruitful second term tenure. I want to say congratulations,” the NUJ boss said.
He said the executive members would be in place for the next three years.
Ajayi inaugurated Yusuf Yunus as Chairman; Stellamaris Ashinze, Vice Chairman; Moses Omorogieva, Secretary and Adeyemi Adeleye as Assistant Secretary.
Others are: Abiodun Azi as Treasurer; Henry Oladele, Financial Secretary and Dapo Udom as Auditor.
The NUJ boss was accompanied by his Vice, Philip Nwosu; Secretary, Tunde Olalare; Assistant Secretary, Olaide Awosanya; and the Financial Secretary, Innocent Anaba.
In his inaugural speech, Yunus, who appreciated members for counting the exco worthy of continuity, promised to lead the union to higher heights.
He commended the leadership of the NUJ State Council for support, assuring that the chapel would be more vibrant at the state council.
Speaking, Vivian Ihechu, NAN Assistant Editor-in-Chief and the Chairman, NUJ NAN Chapel Electoral/Transition Committee, urged the exco to build on its past success.
Ihechu urged members to support the exco and participate in all union activities.
