Full details of how 4-2 penalty crackers and Grammy award rekindled rivalry between the two nations + tantrums Nigerians and South Africans are throwing on Twitter
For the second time in two matches, the Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen, lost two goals to VAR technology, some Nigerians have claimed as Super Eagles defeated the Bafana Bafana of South Africa to land at the final of the African Cup of Nations.
The Nigerian national beat South Africa’s Bafana Bafana on penalties in the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023.
Stanley Nwabali was the hero of the night as he saved two penalty kicks.
Nigeria were hoping to make it into their fourth AFCON final but were made to work for it early in the first half as South Africa bossed early proceedings.
Meanwhile, the match has rekindled the rivalry between Nigerians and South Africans. The rivalry was on full display on Monday after South African popstar Tyla was announced inaugural winner of the best African music performance at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles over four Nigerian acts.
Nigerians have started to react to the match with some dragging their friends from South Africa on social media.

There were taunts from South Africans on social media and clapbacks from Nigerians, setting the stage for yet another chapter in the rivalry.
A Nigerian, Lara Wise wrote on Facebook; “Tomorrow I’m telling my food vendor “put 1 plate of ghana jellof with enough Cameron pepper,put that antelope lap and that lion head add am small banana make everything be 3k”;
Another Nigerian, Felix Douglas, write; “I thank God for the Super Eagles, but I am sad over the continuous cancellations of Osimhem goals. For God sake, what is wrong again with that second goal?
“Thank God we won, it would have been sad after ruling out such a clean goal through VAR,” Felix Douglas wrote.
“It is obvious that discrimination against Nigeria is in every sector. We shall rise above them surely,” Tosin Adesile, added.
