The Lekki Local Council Development Area has faulted arrest of its officers by the Lagos Ministry of transportation, puncturing claims that the men were fake enforcement personnel extorting money along Ibeju-Lekki Junction and the Dangote Refinery area in Akodo.
Platforms Africa reports that the council, in a statement signed by its Chairman, Hon. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali was particularly irked by the arrest and defamatopn of character through the publication of the names of its officials as fake traffic law enforcers in online newspapers.

A news item published by The Punch online earlier quoted the Lagos State Commissioner for transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, to have declared the claims of working for the local government made by the “fake enforcement personnel were fake.”
Kasali however declare; “The council hereby writes to refute the claim in the report, especially where it concerns our senior Council Officials.
“The Officers mentioned in the report were neither fake nor traffic law enforcers. They are Lekki Local Council Development Area revenue collectors on their lawful duty who were accosted and forcefully bundled into a waiting vehicle by unknown men who
claimed to be officials of Lagos State Ministry of Transportation.
“They are Ajakori Lukman, Maroof Kewusola, Shakiru Aguda, and Oseni Taiwo,” the statement read.

RE: LAGOS TO PROSECUTE 11 SUSPECTS FOR EXTORTION
The attention of Lekki Local Council Development Area has been drawn to a
publication in some online media of February 2 1 and 22, 2024 titled “LAGOS TO
PROSECUTE 11 SUSPECTS FOR EXTORTION.”
The report credited to the
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Oluwa Musa, where names of Council officials mentioned claimed that officials of the Ministry of
Transportation’s Transport Operation Team and the Governor’s Monitoring Team
apprehended 11 fake enforcement personnel along lbeju-Lekki Junction and the Dangote Refinery Area in Akodo.
Lekki Local Council Development Area hereby write to refute the claim in the report, especially where it concerns our senior Council Officials. The officers mentioned in the report were neither fake nor traffic law enforcers. They are Lekki Local Council Development Area revenue collectors on their lawful duty who were accosted and forcefully bundled into a waiting vehicle by unknown men who
