DHQ Dismisses Coup Rumour

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has dismissed an allegation that the Guards Brigade had been put on high alert following unusual movements, leading to suspicion of a coup plot in Nigeria. This is contained in a statement issued by the Acting Director of Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau on Monday in Abuja. The National leadership of New Nigeria People’s Party has described the purported suspension of the party’s senator and three other House of Representatives members as a ruse. The Kwankwasia group, led by Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, had announced the suspension of four senior party members, including Senator Kawu Sumaila, Ali Madakin Gini, Sani Abdullahi Rogo, and Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, over allegations of anti-party activities.
